KALPANA-THE Singer Like many others, this talented Assamese damsel dropped in Mumbai in 2001 to onset her career as a playback singer. Singer Kalpana had many opportunities to sing for Hindi films, a few of them are AKSHAY KUMAR’S-DE DANA DAN, AKSHAY KUMAR’S-WELCOME,SHAH RUKH KHAN’S-BILLU BARBER,RAM GOPAL VERMA’S-RATHA CHARITHRA, MONTY SHARMA’S-MIRCHH & AKSHAY KUMAR’S-KHATTA MEETHA. This Assamese girl has been christened the uncrowned BHOJPURI QUEEN and is famous in North Indian belt. This multilingual singer Kalpana has a burning sense of traditional rhythm and groove and she is deeply rooted in Nirgun, Purvi, Kajree, Pachra(devi geet), bihu folk forms. In spite of her mother tongue being Assamese, Kalpana has easily adapted different languages. She has already sung in more than 9000 songs for 23 languages. Singer Kalpana recently worked in an album together with world class India’s virtuoso percussionist and band leader Trilok Gurtu, one of the most dynamic and prolific musicians on a new project MASSICAL and collaborated with international unique’ musicians like Carlo Cantini , Jan Garbarek, Phil Drummy, Roland Cabezas, Stefano Dall’Ora. Kalpana will also feature in the new version of the song on national integration- MILE SUR MERA TUMHARA.
